No Sunday Funday in Hong Kong...

Day 3.
Today I decided I would wait a little while before going out so that the stores had time to open and maybe today I would actually walk into the stores. I was wrong. Even after going out around 10:30am nothing was open and NO ONE was out. Yes, I know it was early and a Sunday, but I was walking streets totally alone. Super lame. So I came back home and called home and actually got to talk to mom, dad and Jimmy- huge surprise and really made my day! They had gone to Charlottesville to get my car and had just gotten home. They're pretty much the best.

Not even at the top yet. You can see the covered walkways on left
After hanging out for a bit I decided to venture out and go to the highest point of the hill that I live on. (Meg- this was similar to going to that church at the top of the hill when we lived in Greece). I am living in Central Hong Kong. My apartment is close to the bottom of the large hill (or mountain?) and the streets run parallel going up the side of it which makes for A TON of stairs and escalators (yup- that's a fact. They have escalators that only go up the hill so you don't have to walk the stairs up). I went as high as I thought I could and at the top- a Pizza Hut!!!!! not even kidding. I didn't go in or even take a picture...probably because I was kinda dreading the walk down the hill. Oh and it was in the high 80's today so it was hot!

After my walk I needed some lunch so of course I went back to my favorite pizza place!!! I just love that place. It is just the best. The girls that work there are cute and so nice. They play the best music- like top 10 hits from the States right now. And their pizza is just the greatest. Today I went big time. I got a Stella with my pizza just to bring some spice to my pretty dull Sunday.

While sitting there at a table for 4 the place started to fill up. A group of 4 Chinese girls (probably my age so ladies) came in and asked to use one of my chairs for a small table they were going to try to fit at. I told them to sit at my large table and I would take their smaller table- it was no problem at all (and I would rather be at the smaller table alone so it didn't look like I actually might be waiting for friends to show up). They were soo appreciative of the gesture and even asked me to sit with them if I wanted! So nice. And brought the first REAL smile I have had here. Doing little things for people are things I love doing and haven't done once since I have been here so it felt great to do something good. OH and I had my first English conversation with someone! I told her the door she was waiting outside of wasn't a bathroom if that was what she was looking for...she said thanks and asked how I was doing. So nice of her. Totally obvi she was American and I bet she thought the same about me- which is perfectly fine because she spoke to me!

Speaking of doing things for the better I was watching all the little city clean up people today. They were power washing the sidewalks and held a screen so no pedestrians would get splashed by the water. And then there was a  lady stood at every escalator and was washing each inch of the handrail. so considerate.

I'll leave you with another random pictures from the day. Little fact- did you know that they use Bamboo still as scaffolding on buildings? Pretty impressive and scary- no way in hell would I climb up there!

Hope you all are wonderful- have a great Sunday and think of me while I'm at work!!! CAN'T WAIT TO GET TO THE OFFICE!!!!!!! peaceout dudes :)

Enjoy this gem I found on my walk today.
